Beaver's

Past Events

in October, the Beaver Colony enjoyed a trip to Pets at Home at Pitsea. The Staff were great, the Beavers were each given a free booklet to work on at home towards their Pets badge. The Beavers were given the the chance to stroke a rabbit, guinea pig, snake, bearded dragon and look at different types of fish. The beavers asked questions and spoke about all the animal habitats and needs. The Beaver Colony also had a cheeky McFlurry in McDonald's....

During September the Beaver Colony went to Wat Tyler Country Park to have a go at Mini-beasting. We all had a great time. First, we went into classroom to look at Stick insects and a Water spider and to talk about safety when we went out into the woods to look for insects. Once out in the woods the Beavers enjoyed using various nets, pots magnifying glasses and worksheets to find and identify the insects they'd found.

in July the Beavers had an 'Animal' sleepover at the Hargreaves camp site. We all had lots of fun dressing up in our animal character onesies, going out for the day to Hainault Country park, where they painted animal figures and enjoyed an ice cream. At camp they made dens, created different animals from pipe cleaners, sang songs, played wide games, ran the obstacle course and lots more...

In June, the Beaver Colony went to the group's boat at the seafront to carry out some gardening. This work went towards their Community Badge, they used different tools for weeding, removed all the plants that had died and cleared away any litter. They had their photograph take by the local newspaper.

Over 2 sessions on 1st & 8th October, our Beavers took part in the postcard swap challenge. This is where Beavers from all over the world exchange postcards. Our Beavers all drew a picture which was glued to the postcards, which were then sent with a brief description of our group to various groups as far away as America and New Zealand as well as many in the UK
